r's jealous

so he's been having sympathetic morning sickness and nausea. isn't that cute? or holy crap, what if we both have bird flu or something? yipes!

in other news: parker is obsessed with christmas lights. she loves them. it's pretty cute. she and i drove around for 45 minutes tonight looking...unfortunately hardly anyone is on the ball and we really had to search.

i. feel. like. crap.

omg. i know why some people decide to have only one child. morning (read: all day) sickness is awful, just terrible. i am so sick. and so tired. and so sick and tired of being sick and tired. i hope to god this part ends at precisely 12 weeks (or sooner) like it is supposed to.

today i made the mistake of waiting until almost 1pm to eat anything. NOT a good idea. i almost threw up in my pho... i felt so bad this evening i actually pondered the potential advantages of vomiting. thankfully i was too tired to make it to the toilet and i eventually recalled the evils of barfing. (in the ten years r and i have been together i have puked exactly once and it was from a bad flu, not chemo.) so, tonight i am trying a trick that my mil let me in on: a peanut butter sandwhich next to the bed, to be nibbled upon waking during the night and first thing in the morning. *fingers crossed*

seven weeks and counting

i'm bigger already...see? and yes, i am as tired as i look.



today we went and cut down our christmas tree in the mountains. this is an annual thing but was very confusing to parker. she kept her eye on r as soon as he picked up our tree and she didn't know what to make of it. it didn't prevent her from enjoying a brownie however...

parker had her one year check-up with dr. owens, her cardiologist and she's in perfect health. we, of course, have suspected this all along!

holy crap, we're pregnant

by now, some of you may have guessed that i'm pregnant! i am so excited and nervous this time around. i had no idea when i was pregnant with parker what i stood to lose. this baby is so very wanted and loved already. i feel sick which is reassuring to me i suppose. i've actually lost a few pounds from the nausea and dizzyness, SO different from last time. i'm completely exhausted and trying to nap with parker everyday.

i am a little over six weeks pregnant (due mid july 2006) and we've already found a wonderful midwife (who we'll be seeing for our first real appointment on dec. 2). we're planning a homebirth this time around and i am thrilled at the prospect of a very different type of birth that the one i had with miss p. i'll be using this blog to talk about all the things i've learned (and will learn) about the medicalization of pregnancy, labor and birth. i'll also of course be putting up fun stuff too like pictures of my belly so ya'll can see how big i get.

parker is very excited about baby "girl" (we'll see if she's as gifted as we think she is) in mama's tummy. we've already started reading her books about it and she seems to understand about as much as can be expected of an almost two year-old. she's a little unsure as to whether there is a baby in her belly though...

does anyone know what this means?

lucky for you

i have a blog because if i tried to talk to you you probably wouldn't hear me. i woke up with no voice this morning. still pretty snotty too. oh well. dad and maria took parker and ME out to breakfast and then we went to the japanese gardens. parker loved the turtles and KOI in the pond and it was really beautiful to see the leaves changing colors. yes it's winter in california folks: 70 degrees and clear!

look ma, no dipes!

parker went ALL day with no diapers and no accidents! she woke up dry this morning so we decided to put her in training pants and see how she would do. she did great. not a single accident! my baby girl is growing up.

does anyone else miss school?

i do. i completely relished not going to school in the spring of last year but missing this fall quarter has been kind of upsetting. r and i drive by school on our way to costco and our favorite pho place and it makes me wish that i was still attending. it was always such a beautiful place to be. i think half my tuition went to upkeep of the grounds but gosh, it was SO worth it! maybe i'll wind up there for grad school after all.

last weekend we saw debbie, justin and danielle for the first time in a couple of months. we met up with them and sarah, shawn and maddie downtown at the farmer's market. the girls didn't miss a beat! they had so much fun together.

dang computers

i haven't posted because for some reason my computer won't access the internet. (i'm at my mom's house.) not much exciting to say; r, p and i are all sick. the big excitement was going to left bank for our free lunch and having the hamburgers come out wrong more than once. they NEVER get it right. oh, but we did see evan for the first time in a while. hey, ev, if you still read this in your big grad school life. hopefully technology will have worked itself out overnight and i'll be up and bloggin' tomorrow. i have some cute pictures from this weekend to share. still no hotdog pics though...

ehhh

r is working today at the gallery and several days between now and christmas. parker and i hung out and bugged him for as long as he'd tolerate and then came home for a nap. tonight we're going up to see joe and celeste for dinner. we are having the 20+ pound striper that joe caught when he and r went fishing earlier this week. yes, you hear right, a fish as large as my daughter.

oh and for those of you waiting for the aforementioned corn dog picture, i have bad news. there isn't one. i ate the damn thing before i remembered to have r to take a picture. in other "dog" news, parker ate a whole hot dog from home depot today. one of the giant ones. she never eats more than a third of one. and one more bit of dog news: david and tracy got a whippet!!! isn't she cute?

houseguests!

we had our first overnight houseguests this weekend: eric and melea (r's cousin). we had a blast together, showed them around our area on saturday and on sunday we went over to santa cruz to show them around over there. we took them to capitola, downtown santa cruz, natural bridges and then to the boardwalk.

very little blogging going on

what's with that huh? i'm just at a loss for words i guess... BUT tomorrow eric and melea are coming up to spend the night and we're going to santa cruz and i plan on having a corn dog at the boardwalk. heh? heh? sounds good right? well, it's gonna be. i'll even make r take a picture of me with it for this very blog!!!
