29 weeks

mr. baby weighs about 2.7 pounds and is 10.4 inches crown to rump (16.7 inches in total). he's been fairly active in the last couple of weeks and now i'm not so sure if he'll be early, right on time, or late (like i originally thought)! it's nutso crazy that any way you look at it he's going to be here soon. we see rosanna on friday and i'm sure i'll have more interesting stuff to say then.



in other news, i had the scariest moment of my parenting life. parker came up to me crying on friday, gagging and choking. i had no idea what she might have swallowed. she stuck her hands down her throat and eventually threw up a quarter. we were both hysterical. i realized that i don't know precisely how to heimlich a toddler and that if she hadn't gotten it up on her own she might well have died before help arrived. it was awful to realize that one moment like that could've changed the course of my/our entire life/lives. r and i are enrolling in a cpr class before the baby is born.

have i mentioned how fantastic it is that it is sunny? have i mentioned how divine it is to swim in our heated pool at 6.5 months pregnant? ahhh, well, it is.

28 weeks and we're back!

baby news first! he's about 2.4 pounds, 10 inches crown to rump or 15.75ish inches head to feet. he seems to be considering moving into a head down position and i can feel him getting up under my ribs. mr. baby is likely to be here in 10-14 weeks! holy crap.



our trip was excellent; it was parker's and my first time to yosemite. we saw lots of the valley, several waterfalls, mirror lake, not to mention deer, coyote, squirrils, and birds. (parker was disappointed we didn't see any bears.) in a desperate moment i was forced to pee in the woods and squatted about 1.5 feet above a sleeping baby rattlesnake (see picture). (parker was disappointed that we wouldn't let her touch it.) we did an 7 mile hike and i carried parker in the backpack for about half of it (yay me, at 6+ months pregnant). we stayed in a motel in mariposa as there was rain and thunderstorms in the park! it turned out to be a good thing because there was a hot tub that we all enjoyed, and much to parker's delight, fruit loops at the continental breakfast! i can't wait to go back when i'm not pregnant.


and as a special treat, a dumb thing said on a mainstream parenting board i lurk on:

i think ulrtasounds (sic) are perfectly safe. Doctors wouldn't do them if they weren't.

mini vacation

dad, maria, r, parker and i are off to yosemite for a mini vacation tomorrow! we'll be back on sunday and i'll have lots of pictures to post i'm sure. see ya!

27 weeks & happy easter!

the easter bunny was good to parker today! she bit the heads off of three pink peeps and that was breakfast. and pretty much the rest of the day continued that way...



27 weeks (or six months), beginning of the third (and last, by my count!) trimester. mr. baby is a bit over two pounds and 9.6ish inches, crown to rump or 15ish inches from head to toes!

the amazing napless toddler!

have i mentioned that parker gave up her nap, cold turkey, last week? i thought it was going to be awful but most days it works out really well. she wakes up between 9 and 10 and then is ready to crash again between 9 and 10. instead of wrestling with her for 30-90 minutes at bedtime she is out in under 5 minutes. literally. it's a freakin' miracle. there have been two nights where she went hysterical balistic when i tried to brush her teeth and threw such terrible tantrums that she actually left me in tears. but, after they're over she's asleep and i can unwind for a while before going to sleep. this also means that she's down to one or two nursings a day, if that. i can't believe how fast this all goes.

laptop's back. thank god.

what we have here folks is a small person. i am constantly amazed by that fact.

26 weeks and the computer gods are against me.

first baby news: mr. baby is almost 2 pounds, 9.2ish inches from crown to rump. i've gained about 18 pounds which is ideal at this point. we saw rosanna on friday and she was let parker take my blood pressure and r use the doppler to find the heartbeat. she measured me and i my uterus is measuring exactly on. she palpated my belly and was surprised (and excited) that she could already feel baby parts! two thirds of my pregnancy is over...omg!



also on friday, we interviewed a wonderful new pediatrician and decided to switch over to her. i feel like a huge weight has been lifted off of me as she is completely supportive of cosleeping, extended breastfeeding, and no/slow vax. imagine that, a supportive practitioner who believes that no one knows the child better than the parents.

in computer news: i got my laptop back and the printer went out. we spent 5ish hours troubleshooting and sent it away to be repaired. they can't. hp doesn't make replacement parts. meanwhile, my laptop screen went out. so i have to buy a new printer and have no idea what is going to happen with the laptop. damn.

frickity-frick!

my laptop is back at the doc's...i'm hoping to get it back and post my usual stuff tomorrow. *bangs head against wall*

you've got to be kidding me!

so my computer is working fine and now the printer is on the fritz! r and i spent 3.5 hours troubleshooting and after all that the guy at hp online said take it to radio shack and have them look at it. so no scanned pics until i get the printer back. :o(

25 weeks!

so, looking back at pics of my pregnancy with parker, i am very close to the size i was at 7.5 months. i am currently 5.5 months. yowza. mister baby is about 1.5 pounds and 8.8 inches from crown to rump. last night we watched him roll and kick and r said "ew, aliens!" thanks, honey.
