16 weeks and happy birthday r

16 weeks pregnant: about 37% done! the baby weighs about 2.8 ounces and is over 4 inches from crown to rump. i was starting to worry yesterday about not feeling ANY movement all day long so this afternoon i had a sip of that yummy new black cherry vanilla coke. holy crap, the baby went nuts for about an hour afterwards. i guess things are okay in there! (i'll post the pic tomorrow, r ran off to work before taking my pic and i can't trust miss p with the camera!)

today is r's 24th birthday. we hung around, made a trip to home depot and then went out to dinner with my dad, maria, will, and will's friend rachel. we went to a nice mediterranean restaurant which we hadn't been to before. all in all a nice day except r had to go to work. bummer!

on the mend. finally.

so we're feeling a little bit better today. we were able to go for a walk to the perk ponds and get some fresh air.



in other news, i have decided to keep a food log of everything that parker eats because she is going through some sort of crazy growth spurt or something and i think it will be fun to look at later in life. yesterday she ate THREE large artichokes, heart and all the leaves with mayo. THREE. she is a very strange, albeit adorable, child.

also, some sad news: peggy k. (my cousins' grandma) passed away this afternoon after a long battle with cancer. she'll be missed by a great many people.

still f***ing sick

i can't believe it but we're all still sick and feeling pretty crappy. there should be more blogging next week though because i'll have my yoga class and my appointment with rosanna. betcha can't wait eh?

mechel had her baby!

my cousin mechel had her third baby at 4am this morning ~ a beautiful 8 pound 10 ounce (her smallest baby yet!) girl who as of 9.30 this morning didn't have a name! congratulations, we can't wait to meet her!!!

i on the other hand am sick. parker is on the mend but still not her usual self. we've pretty much been sleeping and watching arrested development (thanks "anonymous" for the tip). r's birthday is sunday and miss p and i are going to try and get out for some shopping tomorrow if we feel up to it.

15 weeks & rent these films!

15 weeks. baby is the size of a softball. i had to go buy some yoga pants today because i'm too big for my jeans and too small for my old maternity stuff.



p is still sick so we rented some movies: the original bbc series the office(very funny, unfortunately there are only 2 seasons, doh!), broken flowers with bill murray, and david duchovny's directorial debut in house of d. all worth the money!

sick...again!

so parker has a cold and a cough, poor baby... she's doing okay but generally cranky. fun!

the good news? i've started to feel the baby move over the last few weeks. today i felt "it" three or four times. SO exciting, this is the fun part of pregnancy! in other baby news: i have my ultrasound scheduled for february 24th and i've decided to leave it up to r as to whether or not we find out the gender this time around. at this point he's thinking he wants it to be a surprise. we'll see if he sticks to it! for the record, my official prediction is that the baby is another girl! i have no preference so this is purely my feeling (supported by scientific evidence of course).

another tired week

ugh. we're still recovering from a week of parties. p and i have been napping for 3 hours a day trying to catch up on sleep.

14 weeks!

oy-vey. this has been a very looooong weekend. i'll post about the parties tomorrow but for now just the 14 week picture, etc.



the baby is about 4 inches long, weighs about an ounce and is about the size of a fist. i am transitioning into maternity clothes because they're more comfortable. that said, a lot of my clothes still fit. i am back up to my pre-pregnancy weight but haven't gained anything additionally yet.

the boo turns two!

we had a nice mellow day today. spent the night at my mom's last night so r could watch tv and i could have a little break (rlet miss p sleep on the couch with him at about 4am, praise be!) this morning got up and got crispy creams for parker's treat breakfast. then p took a bubble bath with her grammy and we all went for a long walk on the trail. we watched ducks at the perk ponds and of course looked in on the dogs at the dog park. tonight we went to kyoto palace where we had horrific service...ugh. thankfully that didn't interfere with parker having a lovely time with her auntie amanda, grammys (debbie, maria & leslie), and papa vince! she ate shrimp, a big bowl of fried rice and of course chocolate ice cream. r, papa, and auntie did saki bombs and the chef tried to take my mom home.

not too much goin' on

this week has been fairly slow, as weeks go. on monday i had to take the cats (and parker) to the vet by myself which i am sure was quite a sight. imagine me (looking at least a little pregnant now) chasing the cats all over the house trying to corral them into their carrier and then wrestling almost 50 freaking pounds of cat & carrier to the car while trying to encourage parker to stay with me the whole time (with me parker, not under me!) r of course would have come with me but he had to help his parents with a sad matter: putting tobin (their 17 year old brittney spaniel) to sleep. she had a bad fall over the holidays and stopped eating completely.

other than that we're just getting ready for the big party on saturday! miss p is turning TWO tomorrow. HOLY CRAP! tomorrow we're taking her to kyoto palace (where they cook on the table) like we did last year so her daddy and auntie amanda can do saki bombs! you know traditional toddler party right?

13 weeks, end of the first trimester!

yay, i'm so glad that one is behind me. now i hope i start feeling better soon!



the baby is about 3 inches from crown to rump and is about the size of a peach now. the baby has doubled in length since the 7th week. i still haven't gained any weight (i had already gained about 15 pounds by this point last time!) but rosanna isn't worried at all. i have a feeling things are going to start really going fast from here on out!

running horses

much to parker's delight we got to go visit "auntie" rosanna today. we talked, i peed in a cup (no protein), weighed myself (still no weight gain), and got to hear the baby's heartbeat for the first time (r told parker it would sound like running horses). pretty exciting stuff. i got my referral for my ultrasound which will be in the middle of february. r is now waffling about whether he wants to find out the gender or not. he says everyone (at work, etc.) keeps saying "i bet you're hoping for a boy huh?" um, no. just a healthy baby!

i luuurve my midwife

regardless of what you think of homebirth, i urge the women in my life to consider using a midwife for well-woman care and prenatal care. this experience has been so rewarding and wonderful...and i'm only 12.5 weeks pregnant!

so the reason for today's rave: rosanna offered all of her clients an afternoon each month with prenatal yoga, mindfullness practice, an educational discussion topic, and group prenatals. so all us preggo women get to get together and talk and stretch and all that good stuff! today it was just me and one other woman who is due with her first baby in two weeks. i had SO much fun. this is the kind of specialized care/attention midwives have the time to provide. yay for me.

what can i say? she's strange!

parker just pulled down my shirt and bra, blew on my boob and said: "cool off mama!"

we had such a nice time down in carmel, stayed in a lovely hotel, ate lots of yummy meals and visited with my grandparents at their new condo.



last night r worked until almost three so dad, maria, anita, parker and i went to asian garden for dinner and then came back here for bananna splits and a champagne toast (at 9.36pm)! parker and i had alternate bubbly beverages.

today i am 12 weeks pregnant and almost out of the first trimester! the baby is about 2.5 inches from crown to rump, about the size of a lemon. i'll post a picture a little later today!
