dum de dum

so parker had this mysterious 6 hour stomach flu on tuesday. she wakes up, starving she says, and quickly eats two bowls of frosted shredded wheat (her favorite, she thinks it's the biggest treat ever). then she says her tummy hurts. and throws up. twice. her skin turns green and her lips grey and she falls asleep in r's arms for two hours. then she wakes up (her color is totally normal) and says: "hungry daddy." she goes on to eat a huge bowl of pasta and then some dry cheerios. and she's fine and that was the end of it. weirdo.

hmm, other than that...mom and p and i went to the fabric store yesterday and got yarn for mom to make the baby's "staying home from the hospital outfit." it's gonna be so cute, i can't wait to post it online! i also got some photo storage boxes and have undertaken the task of sorting and organizing all the photos taken since my birth. i'll scan and post some embarrasing ones of my parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles/cousins/friends as soon as i get my laptop back. be on the lookout for one of yourself folks!

today i booked reservations for dad, maria, r, p and i to camp in yosemite the weekend after easter. i've never been and am SO excited. i just hope it isn't snowing!

mr. baby is doing fine, still laying with his head on my left and his feet on my right. it's a very odd sensation when he really gets kicking. i don't remember parker being anything but head down, feet in my ribs. i swear pregnancy gives people amnesia.

24 weeks and laptop on the fritz...

sorry for the lack of posts, my laptop is at the doc. hopefully i'll be back up and running here really soon! in the meantime i'm begging time on r's computer.

so, 24 freakin' weeks. the baby has taken a major growth spurt in the last two weeks. i feel rather large all of the sudden. it's getting hard to bend over. only four more months of growing... he's about 1.2 pounds and 8.4 inches, crown to rump.

first day of spring, my ass.

so it was overcast, raining, and cold all day today. again. i'm so tired of this weather. we haven't been able to take a walk in more than a month. it's just exhausting. i'm ready for sun, shorts, and swimming.

23 weeks and a mini vacation!

dad, maria, parker and i drove up to sacramento on friday to spend the weekend with linda and charlie and pick up grandma lorrie for a visit. we had a great time (the weather was so nice) and parker had a blast with her great auntie.


i'm 23 weeks pregnant today and cannot figure out where the time is going so fast! the baby is about 8 inches from crown to rump and weighs a POUND! holy moly.

*pfffftttt*

when r and i found out we were pregnant we told parker right away. like, within minutes. we felt the more we talked about the baby the better used to the idea she would be when it actually arrived. it worked. she is baby obsessed. she carries her baby around singing to it, nursing it, changing it, and babbling to it on and on. she tells everyone about the baby. she reminds me daily that i'm going to have to push hard to get the baby out and then tells me that it's not time yet because the baby is still "tiny." she has completely gotten over her fear of doctors because she loves hearing her brother's heartbeat so much. she begs to watch baby shows every time we go over to my mom's house. she lifts up my shirt about a dozen times a day to hug and kiss my belly. "baby sleeping mama? kicking? swimming?" tonight she discovered that if she blows raspberries on my tummy she can get him to kick. every single time, without fail. i am SO glad we decided to have a second baby. i don't know if it's more exciting watching my belly grow or my daughter. she's going to be the best big sister.

22 weeks!

not much change around here. the baby is now over 7.5 inches long from crown to rump and weighs about 12.5 ounces. he's still mostly a mellow little guy, i feel him throughout the day but not constantly like i did with parks... i'll have to post the picture tomorrow as parker is asleep(!) and r already left for work.

yesterday i had my 22 week appointment with rosanna and one of her assistants (whom i adore). as usual it was very relaxing and low key (we sit on the floor in her living room!). we were there for about an hour and a half talking about all different things, half not even related to the new baby. i cannot express how amazing it feels to be so supported in our decisions. she even said "good job!" when i came out of the bathroom and told her i've gained 7 pounds in the last 5 weeks! so different from the stern talking to i got from my ob/gyn when i was pregnant with parker and gained 7 pounds in a month. anyway, we're of to santa cruz to get our taxes done. i'll post again tomorrow!

mmm, yoga-y

yay! i actually got to go to my yoga class today. dad and parker and i went up to m.p. and had some lunch at the yummy greek deli and then dad and miss p went to the park while i had my class with rosanna. there were two other ladies there, one due in 5 weeks and the other about a month before me. it was nice to get a chance to chat and relax. i'll be seeing rosanna again on friday for my 22 week checkup.

so, this morning i went and toured our local co-op preschool. it was a very nice place, very diverse in activities, parents and children. parker is now enrolled to start in september! she'll be going two days a week for two hours with either r or i attending with her the whole time.

the following year (assuming we like it) she'll be going three days a week and r or i will attend for one day. she'll go one more year (four days a week) since she won't make the state cutoff for kindergarten. in other words, she'll be five, almost six, when she starts kindergarten and her baby brother will (i think) only be two years behind her in school. she'll be old for her classes and he'll be on the young side, unless we decide to hold him back a year.

so sorry to have neglected the blog all week but not much happened. rosanna had a bad stomach bug so we will be seeing her next week. the babe is growing and seems to be enjoying staying down low, even though the top of my uterus is a little above my belly button. he's a cervix kicker, oh yay. even though it's a day early, i'll inform you now that he's about 7ish inches long from crown to rump and 10.5 ounces. tomorrow there'll be a picture!

so, i finally decided to find parker a new doctor. i've had such immense anxiety about taking her in (and not taking her in) ever since we stopped her vaccinations. i don't want a huge confrontation attacking our parenting decisions and we have already gotten some snarkiness from one of the nurses. parker always senses how nervous i am about the doc "finding out" that we cosleep, are choosing to have a homebirth, etc etc and so she freaks whenever we go. it suddenly occured to me today that it isn't worth it. we are paying the doctor. why not pay someone who will be supportive of our decisions. so, i asked to wonderful ladies at mdc and received a rec for a family practice guy that i hope will fit the bill! after snooping around on the web a bit and finding him on a few homebirth/natural family lists it seems like he actually might. so we're setting up an appointment for next week to interview him. hopefully he'll be a good fit for the whole family and i can stop having panic attacks everytime we need to see the doc!

in other news, we've finally reconnected with doug (my sophmore year english teacher/mentor) and shelley (his wife) after not seeing each other for way too long! they cooked us a lovely dinner last night and let parker play with their two bichon frises (who were SO sweet). parker actually started bawling when we got in the car and wanted to know where the "fwiends go?" so hopefully we'll be seeing them again soon. thanks again doug and shelley. *waves*
